| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Honorable Kathleen Cardone has performed |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | outstanding volunteer work in her community through the YWCA El |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Paso del Norte Region; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Now a respected federal judge, Kathy Cardone first |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | became involved with the local YWCA almost three decades ago; after |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | moving to El Paso with her husband in 1980, she began volunteering |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | at the YWCA to contribute to the community and to meet people in her |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | newly adopted hometown; her work at the Women's Resource Center in |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | those early years helped lay the foundation for the exceptional |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | service she has provided to the organization in the years since; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Judge Cardone became a member of the YWCA board of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | directors in 1997 and linked the board's efforts with the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | community-oriented endeavors of her work in the legal profession to |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | implement such programs as the El Paso County Domestic Relations |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Office and Children Cope with Divorce; she left the board of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | directors in 2004, but she continues to provide valuable support to |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | the YWCA and its many beneficial community programs; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Through her enduring work with the YWCA, Kathy |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Cardone has devoted her time and expertise to the goal of empowering |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | women and to the enhancement of the quality of life in her |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | community, and she is indeed deserving of recognition for these |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | admirable efforts; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby honor Judge Kathleen Cardone for the exemplary |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | volunteer service she has rendered to the YWCA El Paso del Norte |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Region and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success |

| 31 | 31 | | and happiness; and, be it further |
