No. 3046 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Mark Regalado of the Jim Wells County Sheriff'S Department has been recognized as Law Officer of the Year at the 18th annual Jim Wells County Law Enforcement Appreciation Day event; and WHEREAS, A graduate of Falfurrias High School in 1998, Deputy Regalado attended Texas A&M University-Kingsville; after graduating from the Del Mar College Regional Police Academy, he joined the Jim Wells County Sheriff's Department in December 2006 as a licensed peace officer; and WHEREAS, In little more than two years on the job, Deputy Regalado has already demonstrated outstanding commitment and initiative in serving and protecting the residents of Jim Wells County; in 2007, he made 70 criminal arrests, recovered five stolen vehicles, and was responsible for 44 criminal vehicle seizures; in 2008, he made 69 more criminal vehicle seizures, including one seizure of nearly $60,000 in illegal funds and two marijuana seizures that totaled more than 6,800 pounds; he is also a member of the SWAT team; and WHEREAS, In addition to the Law Officer of the Year award, this exemplary officer also received a second award recognizing his hard work; and WHEREAS, The well-being of Texas citizens depends in large part on the skill and dedication of our law enforcement officers, and Deputy Sheriff Mark Regalado has proven himself to be an exemplary member of his profession; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Deputy Sheriff Mark Regalado on being named Law Officer of the Year in Jim Wells County and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Deputy Regalado as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
