5	5	WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Dorsey
6	6	Ray Trapp of Wichita Falls, who died on May 23, 2009, at the age of
7	7	61; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Dorsey Trapp was born in Wichita Falls on November
9	9	2, 1947, to Willard and Virginia Cole Trapp; after graduating from
10	10	Hirschi High School in 1966, he attended Midwestern State
11	11	University; and
12	12	WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Trapp
13	13	joined the U.S. Navy in 1968 and served on the USS Coral Sea and the
14	14	USS America; and
15	15	WHEREAS, In 1974, Mr. Trapp married Cathy Fisher, two months
16	16	after he met her, and they would go on to spend 35 happy years
17	17	together; as they started a family, Mr. Trapp returned to school at
18	18	Vernon Regional Junior College and earned a degree in management;
19	19	and
20	20	WHEREAS, He won election as Wichita County district clerk in
21	21	1987, and he served the citizens of Wichita County for nearly three
22	22	decades; he shared his expertise through his work on a number of
23	23	committees and as an instructor in several programs at Texas A&M
24	24	University; he also served on the board of directors of the Texas
25	25	Association of Counties, and he was president of the County and
26	26	District Clerks Association of Texas and a member of that
27	27	organization's Bylaws Committee; and
28	28	WHEREAS, For his contributions to his profession, Mr. Trapp
29	29	was recognized as the Clerk of the Year, and he received the Patsy
30	30	Baggett Children's Service Award in 2007 for his work with juries in
31	31	collecting donations for Child Protective Services; and
32	32	WHEREAS, Mr. Trapp was a man of strong religious faith; he
33	33	belonged to the Heritage Assembly of God congregation and taught
34	34	Children's Church at First Assembly of God for a number of years; in
35	35	his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, and he was named Bass Angler
36	36	of the Year in 2007 by the Christian Bass Anglers; and
37	37	WHEREAS, A devoted family man and a dedicated public servant,
38	38	Dorsey Trapp will be deeply missed, but the integrity, optimism,
39	39	and generosity with which he lived his life will forever inspire all
40	40	who had the good fortune to know him; now, therefore, be it
41	41	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
42	42	Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dorsey Ray Trapp and
43	43	extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
44	44	wife, Cathy Trapp; to his son, Joseph Trapp; to his daughter,
45	45	Jennifer Downing; to his grandsons, Kaden and Donovan Downing; to
46	46	his sister, Diana Sitler; and to his other relatives and friends;
47	47	and, be it further
48	48	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
49	49	prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
50	50	Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dorsey
51	51	Trapp.
