| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A 97th birthday is truly cause for celebration, and |

| 6 | 6 | | Faye Collier Campbell of Ore City marked this special day on |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | February 25, 2009; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born in 1912 in Altoona, Alabama, Faye Collier |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | married D. S. Campbell, and the couple relocated to Texas in 1952; |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Mr. Campbell was a supervisor of Lone Star Steel and served Ore City |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | as mayor, while Mrs. Campbell was a devoted housewife, lovingly |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | raising her children, Virginia Cook, Janice Caldwell, Nancy Godsey, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and the late Betty Pomeroy; instilled with a love of learning, her |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | daughters have gone on to benefit countless young people as |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | award-winning educators; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Faye Campbell is beloved in her community; a skilled |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | gardener, she provides flowers to area hospitals, nursing homes, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and the First Baptist Church, where she has been a valued member for |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | more than half a century; she is also known far and wide for her |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | delicious fried chicken, which she generously shares with those in |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | need; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, At nearly 100 years of age, Mrs. Campbell still |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | drives, visiting nursing homes to take care of the sick and taking |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | "old" people to the doctor; when she's not busy lending a hand, she |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | enjoys spending time with her 7 grandchildren and 15 |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | great-grandchildren, who fondly know her as "Mama Faye"; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Faye Campbell is a source of wisdom, joy, and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | inspiration to all who have the good fortune to know her, and it is a |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | pleasure to recognize her for 97 years of life well lived; now, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby honor Faye Collier Campbell on her 97th birthday |
