5	5	WHEREAS, For more than three decades, P. Rowland Greenwade of
6	6	Austin has rendered invaluable service to the Lone Star State as a
7	7	legislative professional; and
8	8	WHEREAS, On earning a bachelor's degree from Washington and
9	9	Lee University in Virginia in 1967, Rowland Greenwade enrolled at
10	10	The University of Texas School of Law; his studies were interrupted
11	11	with his enlistment in the United States Army in 1971; stationed in
12	12	Germany, Mr. Greenwade achieved the rank of captain before
13	13	concluding his service three years later and returning to law
14	14	school; after graduating in 1975, he was admitted to the State Bar
15	15	of Texas and obtained the highest bar exam score in the state; and
16	16	WHEREAS, In 1976, Mr. Greenwade launched his career in state
17	17	government as a legislative aide in the office of Senator Betty
18	18	Andujar, and he went on to serve as the general counsel to Senator
19	19	Andujar through 1983 and to State Senator John N. Leedom from 1983
20	20	to 1996; during that time, Mr. Greenwade helped to develop
21	21	legislation and worked closely with constituents and state
22	22	agencies, and he was a highly regarded legal advisor to the senators
23	23	and to his fellow staff members; since January 2000, he has served
24	24	as the legislative director in the office of State Representative
25	25	Will Hartnett, where he has shared his expertise on the legislative
26	26	process and addressed issues of concern to the people of House
27	27	District 114; and
28	28	WHEREAS, A member of the Texas Air National Guard for two
29	29	decades beginning in 1975, Mr. Greenwade was commissioned as the
30	30	aide-de-camp to the governor in 1977, and he was named an
31	31	Outstanding Graduate of the U.S. Air Force Air War College; before
32	32	retiring as a lieutenant colonel in 1995, he received a Meritorious
33	33	Service Medal and the Lone Star Distinguished Service Medal, and he
34	34	was a parliamentarian for the National Guard Association of Texas
35	35	from 1987 through 1995; and
36	36	WHEREAS, Since 1984, Mr. Greenwade has served as an election
37	37	judge for Precinct 406 in Travis County, and he has also worked as a
38	38	staff attorney for Bob Honts Properties, Inc., and as a senior
39	39	policy analyst for the Texas Performance Review; and
40	40	WHEREAS, Rowland Greenwade has garnered the lasting respect
41	41	of his colleagues and fellow citizens alike over the course of his
42	42	outstanding tenure, and he may indeed reflect with great pride on
43	43	his many notable achievements and contributions; now, therefore, be
44	44	it
45	45	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
46	46	Legislature hereby commend P. Rowland Greenwade for his dedicated
47	47	public service and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
48	48	success and happiness; and, be it further
49	49	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
50	50	prepared for Mr. Greenwade as an expression of high regard by the
51	51	Texas House of Representatives.
