H.R. No. 3114 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The baseball team from All Saints Episcopal School in Tyler claimed the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools 3A state championship for 2009 with a title game victory on May 15 at Red Murff Field in Belton; and WHEREAS, Facing off against the team from The Woodlands Christian Academy, the All Saints Trojans unleashed their potent offense to notch a 10-5 victory; leading the charge were junior Weston Green, who went 2-for-4 at the plate and knocked in 4 runs, and senior Chris Bailey, who had 2 RBIs; and WHEREAS, The Trojans finished 2009 with an overall record of 24 wins and just 4 losses and were undefeated in district play; in the playoffs, the All Saints squad triumphed in closely contested games against Lake Jackson Brazosport Christian School, Waco Reicher Catholic High School, and Lubbock Christian School to earn their place in the championship final; and WHEREAS, Each member of this talented team made important contributions through the course of the year, and the players received essential guidance from coaches Jerry Courtney and Heath Ponder; and WHEREAS, A perennial contender for the state crown, All Saints has played in the state tournament for four of the past five years; in 2009, the Trojans have emerged from the tournament as champions, and this achievement will be a continuing source of pride for the players and the school long into the future; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the All Saints Episcopal School baseball team on winning the 2009 Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools 3A state championship and extend to the players and coaches sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
