| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Bill Moore has served with great distinction as |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | president of the Texas Pharmacy Association for 2008-2009; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Founded in 1879, the TPA represents almost 4,000 |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | members and works to unite and advance the pharmacy profession in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | order to help Texans lead healthy lives; Mr. Moore has been a member |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | since 1963 and has served as chair of the TPA Insurance Trust, in |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | addition to holding numerous other leadership positions; a tireless |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | advocate for the association, he has long traveled the state to |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | visit pharmacy students, help develop local association chapters, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and recruit new members from the ranks of practicing pharmacists; |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | he is also a longtime member of the National Community Pharmacists |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Association and the American Pharmacists Association; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Moore was born in Hallettsville and graduated |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | from The University of Texas College of Pharmacy in 1960; he worked |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | as a pharmacist in Ganado and Victoria before purchasing a pharmacy |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | in Sinton in 1965; today, Moore's Pharmacy, Inc., is an |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | independently owned group of three pharmacies in Sinton, Beeville, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | and Corpus Christi that specialize in custom compounding; Mr. |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Moore's son and fellow TPA member Robert Moore manages the Beeville |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | location; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, A devoted family man, Mr. Moore shares a rewarding |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | marriage with his wife, Linda, and they take pleasure in spending |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | time with their 5 children, 11 grandchildren, and 2 |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | great-grandchildren; he plays an active role in his church, and in |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | his free time he joins with his wife in devoting significant effort |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | to the fight against cancer; and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, After nearly half a century as a pharmacist, Bill |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Moore continues to be a dynamic leader in his profession, with a |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | deep commitment to improving the health of his fellow Texans, and he |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | can indeed take pride in his outstanding tenure as president of the |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Texas Pharmacy Association; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Legislature hereby honor Bill Moore for his contributions as |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | president of the Texas Pharmacy Association and extend to him |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |

| 40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
