| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Garnet Austin Coleman was born June 21, 1992, to |

| 6 | 6 | | Garnet and Angelique Coleman; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Austin was a pretty baby just like all babies are |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | pretty; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, As parents, the Colemans were as nervous as anyone |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | with a newborn, but when Austin started preschool, it was clear that |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | he had a bright and promising future ahead of him; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Starting the first grade at age 5, Austin went on |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | through the gifted and talented program at Poe Elementary in |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Houston, Texas; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, He then progressed to the Vanguard program at Lanier |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Middle School in Houston, Texas, where in 7th grade he joined the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | band and played the flute; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, From middle school, he advanced to the Vanguard |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | program at Bellaire Senior High School in Houston, Texas, where he |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | studied, among other things, Chinese and German, and where he also |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | became a member of the Cardinals marching band, becoming an officer |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | of the band in his senior year, and was selected as a member of the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | National Honor Society; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Austin will attend the University of Southern |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | California in the fall of 2009, where he will try out for the USC |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Spirit of Troy Marching Band; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby honor Garnet Austin Coleman on his graduation |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | from Bellaire Senior High School and for his outstanding efforts in |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | academics and music; and, be it further |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | prepared for Mr. Coleman as an expression of high regard by the |
|---|
