55 R E S O L U T I O N
66 WHEREAS, Diana Arevalo was named Miss Central Texas Latina,
77 and this lovely young woman is truly a source of pride to her family
88 and community; and
99 WHEREAS, In winning this honor, Ms. Arevalo has earned the
1010 right to represent her fellow Central Texans in the 2009 Miss Latina
1111 World pageant; and
1212 WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas at San
1313 Antonio, Ms. Arevalo has distinguished herself as a United Leader's
1414 Fellow at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government, as an
1515 intern for the first Latino state senator of Massachusetts, Jarrett
1616 Barrios, and for U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy, and by working with the
1717 San Antonio City Council and the Texas Legislature; and
1818 WHEREAS, This notable young woman has served her community as
1919 a member of the George Gervin Youth Center development board and the
2020 Incarnate Word High School Alumni Association; she's also been a
2121 girls volleyball coach at the YMCA; and
2222 WHEREAS, Through her hard work and steadfast commitment to a
2323 worthy goal, Diana Arevalo has fittingly been recognized as an
2424 outstanding representative of her Central Texas community; now,
2525 therefore, be it
2626 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2727 Legislature hereby congratulate Diana Arevalo on her selection as
2828 Miss Central Texas Latina and extend to her sincere best wishes for
2929 continued success and happiness; and, be it further
3030 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3131 prepared for Ms. Arevalo as an expression of high regard by the
3232 Texas House of Representatives.
