 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, For more than two decades, the Houston Asian Junior
 Chamber of Commerce has worked to develop future business leaders
 and serve the greater community, and in 2009, its members are
 looking forward to building on this notable legacy; and
 WHEREAS, The Houston Asian Jaycees was formed in 1986 by a
 group of Chinese and Taiwanese American entrepreneurs, with the
 mission to help young professionals enrich their skills in
 leadership and management, commercial development, and networking,
 and to motivate them to become more aware of the concerns of the
 local and international communities; in 1991, the HAJCC became
 affiliated with the U.S. Junior Chamber and the Texas Junior
 Chamber; and
 WHEREAS, Since its inception, this progressive organization
 has demonstrated its commitment to serving others, creating
 business ideas and opportunities, promoting the Asian American
 culture, and participating in the political process; the chamber's
 chapters work on local projects, but are also involved in broader
 endeavors that have impacts at state, national, and international
 levels; and
 WHEREAS, In February 2009, the Houston Asian Jaycees is
 hosting its annual inauguration and awards night; in addition to
 celebrating a successful 2008 campaign, the event honors the state
 president, Katherine Cheng-Arif, and features the installation of
 its new officers; led by the 24th chapter president, Lenney Yip, the
 2009 executive board includes: Kevin Du, Tony Yip, Dilsia
 Hernandez, Nate Wong, Thad Fiebich, Lizzie Huynh, Tuan Pham, Cam
 Vu, Emily Huynh, Fernando Fuentes, and Paige Shih; and
 WHEREAS, The Houston Asian Junior Chamber of Commerce has
 demonstrated a commitment to serving area residents and enhancing
 the local economy, and in so doing, the group has played an
 important role in the cultural and professional vitality of the
 community; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby honor the Houston Asian Junior Chamber of
 Commerce for its outstanding efforts to support local business and
 extend to all those associated with the organization sincere best
 wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the HAJCC as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
