 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Mariachi Primer Orgullo of Edinburg High School has
 achieved great success, and its members are a source of pride to
 their school, their families, and all of their supporters in the
 Edinburg community; and
 WHEREAS, Since its establishment in 2002, Mariachi Primer
 Orgullo has helped many young Texans to further develop their
 self-esteem, musical talent, and knowledge of this distinctive
 aspect of Mexican culture; and
 WHEREAS, Members of the 2008-2009 group include Ezequiel
 Bautista, Javier Cardenas, Felix Cruz, Angie Gacia, Edgar Gonzalez,
 Luis Hernandez, Rolando Maldonado, Stephanie Maldonado, Jenette
 Ornelas, Blanca Paras, Brittany Ramirez, and Eduardo Saenz;
 all-city members include Tommy Barret, Everto Cavazos, Rolando
 Fuentes, Rachel Hernandez, and Jordan Saenz; and
 WHEREAS, These talented young Texans have earned a number of
 well-deserved honors; consistently ranked in the top three at
 international competitions, they were named Grand Champions at the
 Mariachi Vargas International Competition in Corpus Christi, and
 members have also been invited to Austin to perform at the State
 Capitol; and
 WHEREAS, State Representative Aaron Pena has justly
 recognized Mariachi Primer Orgullo by authoring this resolution in
 its behalf during the Regular Session of the 81st Texas
 Legislature; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby honor Mariachi Primer Orgullo of Edinburg High
 School for its many achievements and extend to its members sincere
 best wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the band as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
