R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The decisive actions of Shaun Patrick Mulligan on
May 21, 2008, helped save a toddler from near drowning; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Mulligan and his friend, Jacob Chavez, both
juniors at Cedar Park High School, were walking outside Mr.
Mulligan's apartment complex when they heard shouts coming from the
pool area; they hurried to the scene, where a lifeless child was
being pulled out of the water; and
WHEREAS, Recognizing the need for emergency assistance, Mr.
Mulligan dashed to the emergency call box; when it wouldn't open, he
quickly broke off the cover and called for help; meanwhile, Mr.
Chavez performed CPR on the victim, and by the time the paramedics
arrived, the child's pulse had returned; and
WHEREAS, Shaun Patrick Mulligan responded to a critical
situation with composure and speed, and thanks in part to his heroic
efforts, a tragedy was successfully averted; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby commend Shaun Mulligan for his vital role in
saving a toddler from near drowning and extend to him sincere best
wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Mulligan as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
