H.R. No. 43
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Katy-based publisher absolutely! Magazines has
been honored with a 2007 Keep Texas Beautiful Media Award; and
WHEREAS, This accolade recognizes absolutely! Magazines for
its continued support of community beautification through its
publications, absolutely! Katy and absolutely! Memorial, and the
company was also honored for its Spring 2007 "Green" issue, which
focused on environmental concerns; moreover, absolutely! Magazines
has been a tireless champion of the Keep Katy Beautiful
organization, and its advocacy has helped spread awareness of that
group's environmental efforts; and
WHEREAS, Established in 2004 by publisher Beth Nightingale,
absolutely! Magazines is dedicated to serving the vital interests
of the Greater Katy area and strengthening its sense of community;
editor-in-chief Claudia Richter and the staff of the publications
focus on topics of interest to local residents and have dedicated
themselves to promoting important civic initiatives such as
boosting voter participation in elections; in addition, the company
undertakes worthy service projects, including the annual Christmas
dinner it provides to the residents of the Krause Children's
Center, and absolutely! Magazines has also given nearly $100,000 in
cash and in-kind donations to local nonprofit organizations; and
WHEREAS, An enterprise that serves its community in numerous
ways, absolutely! Magazines has deftly chronicled the people,
history, and economic development of the Katy area, and its
positive journalism and the selfless actions of its staff have been
of great benefit to area citizens; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate absolutely! Magazines on its
receipt of a 2007 Keep Texas Beautiful Media Award and commend all
associated with the company for their fine work; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the company's staff as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
