5	5	WHEREAS, Eunice A. Cooksey of Clifton commemorated a special
6	6	milestone in her life with the celebration of her 90th birthday on
7	7	October 12, 2008; and
8	8	WHEREAS, A native Texan, the former Eunice Reesing was born
9	9	in the Cooper community near Clifton, the 11th child of Oscar and
10	10	Emma Reesing; she received baptism at Trinity Lutheran Church and
11	11	graduated from Clifton High School; and
12	12	WHEREAS, Married to Raymond W. Cooksey in 1941, she lived
13	13	with her husband in the Hitchland and Oslo communities in Hansford
14	14	County after his return from serving overseas in World War II; in
15	15	1952 they bought the Cooksey Grocery Store, which Mrs. Cooksey
16	16	managed until its sale in 1955; four years later, Eunice and Raymond
17	17	Cooksey built the Huddle Drive Inn in Gruver, and Mrs. Cooksey
18	18	managed that business as well; the couple returned in 1968 to
19	19	Clifton, where they purchased and renovated a restaurant that they
20	20	named the Cooksey Place, and they operated that enterprise until
21	21	their retirement in 1989; and
22	22	WHEREAS, Following a two-year residency in a Granbury
23	23	retirement community, Mrs. Cooksey and her husband moved back to
24	24	Clifton in 1991 and rejoined their church family at Trinity
25	25	Lutheran; the marriage of this beloved couple endured for nearly 55
26	26	years, until Mr. Cooksey's death in 1995; and
27	27	WHEREAS, Today, Eunice Cooksey continues to live
28	28	independently at her home and plays an active role at Immanuel
29	29	Lutheran Church; she is the mother of four children, Joyce W.
30	30	Powell, Pamela K. Owens, James L. Cooksey, and the late John A.
31	31	Cooksey, and the grandmother of Rhett, Christie, and Hunter
32	32	Hoestenbach, Craig, Ky, and Katharyn Cooksey, Kimberly and Kyle
33	33	Bartels, and the late Kevin Bartels; and
34	34	WHEREAS, Eunice Cooksey is deeply cherished for her kind and
35	35	caring nature, and her nine decades of life well lived are an
36	36	inspiration to all who know her; now, therefore, be it
37	37	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
38	38	Legislature hereby congratulate Eunice A. Cooksey on her 90th
39	39	birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
40	40	happiness; and, be it further
41	41	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
42	42	prepared for Mrs. Cooksey as an expression of high regard by the
43	43	Texas House of Representatives.
