5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family, friends, and citizens of Trinity County are |

6 | 6 | | mourning the loss of Sheriff Brent Lee, who died in the line of duty |
---|
7 | 7 | | on November 27, 2008, at the age of 58; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Sheriff Lee was responding to a call early |
---|
9 | 9 | | Thanksgiving morning when his car was involved in a one-vehicle |
---|
10 | 10 | | accident in heavy fog; and |
---|
11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Brent Lee was born in Crockett to Dovie Mae and Dick |
---|
12 | 12 | | Lee on October 11, 1950; his father served as Trinity County sheriff |
---|
13 | 13 | | from 1966 to 1972, and he nurtured a lifelong dream of following in |
---|
14 | 14 | | his father's footsteps; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, During his career in law enforcement, Brent Lee |
---|
16 | 16 | | worked as a state corrections officer and as a member of the |
---|
17 | 17 | | Livingston Police Department; he retired from the Texas Alcoholic |
---|
18 | 18 | | Beverage Commission with the rank of lieutenant after three decades |
---|
19 | 19 | | of service; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, A resident of Trinity County for the past seven |
---|
21 | 21 | | years, he had been appointed sheriff in June 2008 and had won |
---|
22 | 22 | | election to the post in the general election in November; Sheriff |
---|
23 | 23 | | Lee was due to start his first full term on January 1, 2009; and |
---|
24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, With the love and support of his family, Brent Lee |
---|
25 | 25 | | dedicated himself to preserving the peace and protecting the people |
---|
26 | 26 | | of his community, and he carried out his duties with compassion, a |
---|
27 | 27 | | spirit of cooperation, and a keen sense of justice; this greatly |
---|
28 | 28 | | esteemed Texan will be forever remembered with deep appreciation by |
---|
29 | 29 | | the citizens he served and with profound affection by all who shared |
---|
30 | 30 | | in his life; now, therefore, be it |
---|
31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
---|
32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Sheriff Brent Lee and |
---|
33 | 33 | | extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his |
---|
34 | 34 | | wife, Elizabeth Ann Avery Lee; to his daughters, Lisa Mullins and |
---|
35 | 35 | | her husband, James, and Patricia Gee and her husband, Anthony; to |

36 | 36 | | his son, Steven Lee, Jr., and his wife, Chandra; to his brothers, |

37 | 37 | | Charles M. Lee, Jr., and Bennie L. Lee and his wife, Linda; to his |
