H.R. No. 502
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, February 25, 2009, is Texas Dental Association Day,
and this occasion provides a welcome opportunity to honor Dr.
Hilton Israelson of Dallas, President of the Texas Dental
Association; and
WHEREAS, Born in South Africa, Hilton Israelson earned his
bachelor's degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in
Johannesburg; he attended dental school and then moved to the
United States to continue his education at Tufts University in
Massachusetts; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Israelson began his teaching career at Tufts and
was a faculty member there until he took an assistant professorship
at the Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas in 1979; he went on to
become an assistant clinical professor and associate clinical
professor and was a member of numerous thesis committees; a
specialist in periodontics and implantology, he operates a private
practice in Richardson; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed dental professional joined the
American Dental Association in 1999 as a delegate, and he served the
Texas Dental Association in multiple offices, including senior
director and chair of the Future Focus Committee, before being
elected president; and
WHEREAS, A number of prestigious awards have been bestowed on
Dr. Israelson over the course of his career, including Dentist of
the Year honors in 2006 from both the Texas Academy of General
Dentistry and the Dallas County Dental Society, and the 2008
President's Award from the Texas Society of Periodontists; and
WHEREAS, With his achievements as an educator and advocate
and the distinguished work he carries out in his private practice,
Hilton Israelson is making significant contributions to the field
of dentistry that are having an impact throughout the Lone Star
State and beyond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby honor Dr. Hilton Israelson for his professional
accomplishments and extend to him sincere best wishes for success
in his tenure as president of the Texas Dental Association; and, be
it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Dr. Israelson as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
