| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, February 25, 2009, is Texas Dental Association Day, |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | and this occasion provides a welcome opportunity to honor Dr. |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Hilton Israelson of Dallas, President of the Texas Dental |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Association; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born in South Africa, Hilton Israelson earned his |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | bachelor's degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Johannesburg; he attended dental school and then moved to the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | United States to continue his education at Tufts University in |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Massachusetts; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Israelson began his teaching career at Tufts and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | was a faculty member there until he took an assistant professorship |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | at the Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas in 1979; he went on to |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | become an assistant clinical professor and associate clinical |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | professor and was a member of numerous thesis committees; a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | specialist in periodontics and implantology, he operates a private |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | practice in Richardson; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed dental professional joined the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | American Dental Association in 1999 as a delegate, and he served the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Texas Dental Association in multiple offices, including senior |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | director and chair of the Future Focus Committee, before being |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | elected president; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, A number of prestigious awards have been bestowed on |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Dr. Israelson over the course of his career, including Dentist of |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | the Year honors in 2006 from both the Texas Academy of General |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Dentistry and the Dallas County Dental Society, and the 2008 |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | President's Award from the Texas Society of Periodontists; and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, With his achievements as an educator and advocate |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | and the distinguished work he carries out in his private practice, |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Hilton Israelson is making significant contributions to the field |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | of dentistry that are having an impact throughout the Lone Star |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | State and beyond; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Legislature hereby honor Dr. Hilton Israelson for his professional |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | accomplishments and extend to him sincere best wishes for success |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | in his tenure as president of the Texas Dental Association; and, be |
