| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Velma Villegas of the Southwest Independent |

| 7 | 7 | | School District has been named 2008 Superintendent of the Year by |

| 8 | 8 | | the Texas Computer Education Association; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, One of eight TCEA honors presented each year, the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Superintendent of the Year award is given to a senior school |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | district administrator who recognizes the importance of technology |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | in the teaching and learning process; the winner is provided with an |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | engraved plaque and is allowed to choose a graduating senior to |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | receive a $1,000 scholarship; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Villegas earned the commendation for |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | demonstrating great awareness of the role of technology in |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | classroom instruction and actively promoting its use throughout her |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | district; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Technology is of ever-increasing importance to |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | students in the information age, and the visionary efforts Dr. |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Villegas has made to provide Southwest ISD students with up-to-date |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | learning tools is providing them a solid foundation for educational |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | success; now, therefore, be it |

| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Velma Villegas on her selection |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | as 2008 Superintendent of the Year by the Texas Computer Education |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Association and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |

| 28 | 28 | | achievement; and, be it further |
