| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Louis Ojeda of Austin |

| 6 | 6 | | has rendered exemplary service to this country as a member of the |

| 7 | 7 | | U.S. Naval Construction Force, and his retirement on April 1, 2009, |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | offers a fitting opportunity to honor this esteemed Texan; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Chief Ojeda joined the Seabees in December 1974 and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | served with distinction in Vietnam and Iraq; deployed twice in |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, he is also a veteran of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Operation Noble Eagle and Operation Enduring Freedom; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, During his notable 25-year tenure, Chief Ojeda's |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | duty assignments included the USS Brewton, Naval Mobile Mine |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Assembly Group 1410, and Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 22; |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | from January to October 2006, he worked with the Ninth Naval |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Construction Regiment and was attached to the First Marine |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Air/Ground Combat Expeditionary Force; the expeditionary force was |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | recently awarded a Navy Unit Commendation in recognition of its |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | personnel's heroic service in Iraq; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Louis Ojeda has enjoyed the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | support of his friends and family, including his children, Jackie |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | and Louis Ojeda, Jr.; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Chief Ojeda has exemplified the highest ideals of |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | the United States armed forces throughout his career, and his |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | outstanding efforts in this nation's behalf are deserving of his |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | fellow citizens' deepest respect and gratitude; now, therefore, be |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby honor U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Louis Ojeda |
