 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
 meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort those who mourn the
 loss of John Robert Kleimann of Willis, who passed away on January
 23, 2009, at the age of 81; and
 WHEREAS, A native Texan, John Kleimann was born in Houston on
 January 16, 1928; destined to be a leader from an early age, he won
 the first calf scramble in the history of the Houston Livestock Show
 and Rodeo at the age of 15; three years later, he enlisted in the
 U.S. Navy and became a Seabee, and during his service he helped to
 prepare Bikini Island for the first atomic bomb test; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Kleimann went on to own and operate the largest
 dairy farm and ranch in South Texas; a prominent figure in his
 profession, he became executive vice president of the South Texas
 Milk Producers Association and served for 28 years as the director
 and three-time president of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau; he
 was also executive director of Citadel Bank and, as a Realtor,
 helped to develop the Bridgepoint subdivision; and
 WHEREAS, For 16 years, Mr. Kleimann served his fellow
 citizens with distinction as the constable of Precinct 1 in
 Montgomery County; he served as the precinct's justice of the peace
 from 1991 until his retirement in 2003, and throughout his
 outstanding tenure he was particularly known for his desire to help
 young people; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Kleimann also gave generously of his time and
 talents to a number of community groups; a charter member and
 director of the Willis Area Chamber of Commerce, he was a valued
 member of American Legion Post No. 618 and the Montgomery County
 Philosophical Society and an honorary life member of the Knights of
 Columbus; in addition, he was a 21-year member and three-time
 president of the local Rotary Club, with 14 years of perfect
 attendance; and
 WHEREAS, This devoted family man shared nearly six decades of
 marriage with his wife, Beatrice, with whom he had four children,
 Kathleen, Jeanette, David, and the late John Robert Kleimann, Jr.;
 he enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, especially his nine
 grandchildren; and
 WHEREAS, Although he will be greatly missed, John Kleimann
 leaves behind a legacy that will live on in his many contributions
 to his hometown and in the cherished memories of his loved ones;
 now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of John Robert Kleimann
 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
 wife, Beatrice; to his children, Kathleen Dunlap and her husband,
 John, Jeanette Rae and her husband, Donald, and David Kleimann and
 his wife, Kim; to his grandchildren, Lauren, Lesley, and Landyn
 Dunlap, Jacqueline, Jillian, and Joseph Rae, and Taylor, John
 David, and Meredith Kleimann; and to his other relatives and
 friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of John Robert
 Kleimann.
