5	5	WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
6	6	meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort those who mourn the
7	7	loss of John Robert Kleimann of Willis, who passed away on January
8	8	23, 2009, at the age of 81; and
9	9	WHEREAS, A native Texan, John Kleimann was born in Houston on
10	10	January 16, 1928; destined to be a leader from an early age, he won
11	11	the first calf scramble in the history of the Houston Livestock Show
12	12	and Rodeo at the age of 15; three years later, he enlisted in the
13	13	U.S. Navy and became a Seabee, and during his service he helped to
14	14	prepare Bikini Island for the first atomic bomb test; and
15	15	WHEREAS, Mr. Kleimann went on to own and operate the largest
16	16	dairy farm and ranch in South Texas; a prominent figure in his
17	17	profession, he became executive vice president of the South Texas
18	18	Milk Producers Association and served for 28 years as the director
19	19	and three-time president of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau; he
20	20	was also executive director of Citadel Bank and, as a Realtor,
21	21	helped to develop the Bridgepoint subdivision; and
22	22	WHEREAS, For 16 years, Mr. Kleimann served his fellow
23	23	citizens with distinction as the constable of Precinct 1 in
24	24	Montgomery County; he served as the precinct's justice of the peace
25	25	from 1991 until his retirement in 2003, and throughout his
26	26	outstanding tenure he was particularly known for his desire to help
27	27	young people; and
28	28	WHEREAS, Mr. Kleimann also gave generously of his time and
29	29	talents to a number of community groups; a charter member and
30	30	director of the Willis Area Chamber of Commerce, he was a valued
31	31	member of American Legion Post No. 618 and the Montgomery County
32	32	Philosophical Society and an honorary life member of the Knights of
33	33	Columbus; in addition, he was a 21-year member and three-time
34	34	president of the local Rotary Club, with 14 years of perfect
35	35	attendance; and
36	36	WHEREAS, This devoted family man shared nearly six decades of
37	37	marriage with his wife, Beatrice, with whom he had four children,
38	38	Kathleen, Jeanette, David, and the late John Robert Kleimann, Jr.;
39	39	he enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, especially his nine
40	40	grandchildren; and
41	41	WHEREAS, Although he will be greatly missed, John Kleimann
42	42	leaves behind a legacy that will live on in his many contributions
43	43	to his hometown and in the cherished memories of his loved ones;
44	44	now, therefore, be it
45	45	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
46	46	Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of John Robert Kleimann
47	47	and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
48	48	wife, Beatrice; to his children, Kathleen Dunlap and her husband,
49	49	John, Jeanette Rae and her husband, Donald, and David Kleimann and
50	50	his wife, Kim; to his grandchildren, Lauren, Lesley, and Landyn
51	51	Dunlap, Jacqueline, Jillian, and Joseph Rae, and Taylor, John
52	52	David, and Meredith Kleimann; and to his other relatives and
53	53	friends; and, be it further
54	54	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
55	55	prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
56	56	Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of John Robert
57	57	Kleimann.
