44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Judith Ann Francis of Waco
66 on December 31, 2008, has brought a profoundly felt loss to her
77 family members and many friends; and
88 WHEREAS, Born on June 25, 1944, in Fort Worth, the former
99 Judith Witt graduated from Houston High School and earned a
1010 bachelor's degree from Baylor University, where she was active in
1111 the CHI'S Service Sorority; she went on to pursue a career in
1212 education with her alma mater, teaching English at the university
1313 for 30 years; and
1414 WHEREAS, A valued member of the First Presbyterian Church in
1515 Waco, Mrs. Francis served the congregation as a deacon and elder,
1616 and she enjoyed the fellowship of the First Ladies Bible Study; she
1717 further shared her time with the Gospel Cafe, Committee on
1818 Ministries for Grace Presbytery, and Caritas Ministries, which she
1919 served as a member of the board and as secretary; and
2020 WHEREAS, Her volunteerism also extended to the Baylor
2121 chapters of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and CHI'S Service Sorority, and
2222 to the Development Council of Texas A&M University's College of
2323 Veterinary Medicine; and
2424 WHEREAS, Above all else, Mrs. Francis was dedicated to her
2525 family, and she enjoyed more than four decades of marriage with her
2626 beloved husband, Dan Francis; and
2727 WHEREAS, The life of Judith Ann Francis was characterized by
2828 her devotion to helping others, and the memory of her kindness and
2929 generosity will forever hold a treasured place in the hearts of all
3030 those whose lives she touched; now, therefore, be it
3131 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
3232 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Judith Ann Francis and
3333 extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
3434 husband, Dan Francis; to her sister, Sharon Lyles, and her husband,
3535 Gary; to her sister-in-law, Ann Joseph; to her niece, Sally Joseph;
3636 to her nephews, Craig Lyles and Earnest Joseph; to her special
3737 friend, Jerrie Callan; and to her other relatives and many friends;
3838 and, be it further
3939 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4040 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
4141 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Judith Ann
4242 Francis.
