5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Judith Ann Francis of Waco |

6 | 6 | | on December 31, 2008, has brought a profoundly felt loss to her |

7 | 7 | | family members and many friends; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born on June 25, 1944, in Fort Worth, the former |
---|
9 | 9 | | Judith Witt graduated from Houston High School and earned a |
---|
10 | 10 | | bachelor's degree from Baylor University, where she was active in |
---|
11 | 11 | | the CHI'S Service Sorority; she went on to pursue a career in |
---|
12 | 12 | | education with her alma mater, teaching English at the university |
---|
13 | 13 | | for 30 years; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, A valued member of the First Presbyterian Church in |
---|
15 | 15 | | Waco, Mrs. Francis served the congregation as a deacon and elder, |
---|
16 | 16 | | and she enjoyed the fellowship of the First Ladies Bible Study; she |
---|
17 | 17 | | further shared her time with the Gospel Cafe, Committee on |
---|
18 | 18 | | Ministries for Grace Presbytery, and Caritas Ministries, which she |
---|
19 | 19 | | served as a member of the board and as secretary; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Her volunteerism also extended to the Baylor |
---|
21 | 21 | | chapters of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and CHI'S Service Sorority, and |
---|
22 | 22 | | to the Development Council of Texas A&M University's College of |
---|
23 | 23 | | Veterinary Medicine; and |
---|
24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Above all else, Mrs. Francis was dedicated to her |
---|
25 | 25 | | family, and she enjoyed more than four decades of marriage with her |
---|
26 | 26 | | beloved husband, Dan Francis; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, The life of Judith Ann Francis was characterized by |
---|
28 | 28 | | her devotion to helping others, and the memory of her kindness and |
---|
29 | 29 | | generosity will forever hold a treasured place in the hearts of all |
---|
30 | 30 | | those whose lives she touched; now, therefore, be it |
---|
31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
---|
32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Judith Ann Francis and |
---|
33 | 33 | | extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her |
---|
34 | 34 | | husband, Dan Francis; to her sister, Sharon Lyles, and her husband, |
---|
35 | 35 | | Gary; to her sister-in-law, Ann Joseph; to her niece, Sally Joseph; |

36 | 36 | | to her nephews, Craig Lyles and Earnest Joseph; to her special |
