No. 573 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Jeff Burnett is celebrating his 30th anniversary as pastor of First Baptist Church in Hurst on March 8, 2009; and WHEREAS, A Hurst native, Dr. Burnett graduated from L. D. Bell High School, earned his bachelor's degree from Baylor University, and went on to receive his master's and doctoral degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; before accepting his present post in 1991, he served as pastor of Travis Baptist Church in Lott and served his current congregation as associate pastor for more than a decade; and WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan has benefited his community of faith through his involvement in the Tarrant Baptist Association; he has held a number of leadership positions, including advisory board member for director of missions, personnel and credentials committees chair, and preteen camp pastor; and WHEREAS, Dr. Burnett has further shared his time with such worthwhile organizations as the Mid Cities Pee Wee Football and Cheerleading Association, the Brooks House advisory board, and the Hurst-Euless-Bedford school board, which he currently serves as president; and WHEREAS, Throughout all of his endeavors, he has enjoyed the love and support of his wife of 32 years, Jana, their children, Brooke and Blake, and their grandchildren, Christian and Natalee; and WHEREAS, Dr. Jeff Burnett has led First Baptist Church with compassion, selflessness, and generosity, and he has earned the lasting respect and admiration of his congregants as well as members of the greater community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Jeff Burnett of First Baptist Church in Hurst on his 30th pastoral anniversary and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Dr. Burnett as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
