| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Jeff Burnett is celebrating his 30th anniversary as |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | pastor of First Baptist Church in Hurst on March 8, 2009; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, A Hurst native, Dr. Burnett graduated from L. D. |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Bell High School, earned his bachelor's degree from Baylor |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | University, and went on to receive his master's and doctoral |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; before |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | accepting his present post in 1991, he served as pastor of Travis |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Baptist Church in Lott and served his current congregation as |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | associate pastor for more than a decade; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan has benefited his community of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | faith through his involvement in the Tarrant Baptist Association; |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | he has held a number of leadership positions, including advisory |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | board member for director of missions, personnel and credentials |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | committees chair, and preteen camp pastor; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Burnett has further shared his time with such |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | worthwhile organizations as the Mid Cities Pee Wee Football and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Cheerleading Association, the Brooks House advisory board, and the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Hurst-Euless-Bedford school board, which he currently serves as |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | president; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Throughout all of his endeavors, he has enjoyed the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | love and support of his wife of 32 years, Jana, their children, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Brooke and Blake, and their grandchildren, Christian and Natalee; |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Jeff Burnett has led First Baptist Church with |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | compassion, selflessness, and generosity, and he has earned the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | lasting respect and admiration of his congregants as well as |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | members of the greater community; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Jeff Burnett of First Baptist |

| 34 | 34 | | Church in Hurst on his 30th pastoral anniversary and extend to him |

| 35 | 35 | | sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
