| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, School board members play an integral role in the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | education of our children, and the trustees of the Richardson |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Independent School District are indeed worthy of special |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | recognition for their dedicated service; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Richardson ISD is located in northern Dallas County |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and serves an area that includes most of the city of Richardson, as |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | well as portions of Dallas and Garland; the district's board |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | members include president Kim Quirk, vice president Lanet Greenhaw, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | secretary Karen Ellis, treasurer Kim Caston, and trustees David |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Tyson and Luke Davis; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Working closely with district superintendant David |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Simmons, the Richardson ISD board oversees the education of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | approximately 35,000 students who attend freshman and alternative |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | learning centers and more than 50 traditional elementary, middle, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and high schools; guided by the belief that all students must be |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | challenged, the trustees set high standards and promote a dynamic |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | curriculum, and they seek to ensure that each of their pupils |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | achieves academic success; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, These devoted civic leaders have further |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | distinguished themselves by promoting community involvement, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | celebrating diversity, and retaining a high-performing staff; by |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | coordinating their efforts with parents, teachers, and other |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | concerned citizens, the board is helping to realize the vision of |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Richardson ISD to educate each student in an academically |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | excellent, individually responsive, innovative, and inclusive |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | learning community; and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Public education is an endeavor in which all Texans |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | have a stake, and the trustees of the Richardson ISD board have |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | demonstrated their commitment to building a bright and prosperous |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | future for area schoolchildren; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Legislature hereby honor the Richardson Independent School |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | District board of trustees and extend to its members sincere |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | appreciation for their outstanding contributions to their |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | community; and, be it further |

| 40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

| 41 | 41 | | prepared for the Richardson ISD board as an expression of high |
