R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Larry Allen is retiring from the Mesquite
Police Department in 2009, drawing to a close a notable career in
law enforcement that has spanned nearly three decades; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of his exemplary 29-year tenure,
Lieutenant Allen has distinguished himself as a supervisor in
numerous departments, including patrol, internal affairs, and
criminal investigations; most recently he has served as supervisor
of communications, detentions, the police property room, police
records, and the automobile impound; this highly respected peace
officer has also been an invaluable member of the family support
team, providing assistance and counsel to employees during times of
crisis; and
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Allen has been named the Exchange Club of
Mesquite Officer of the Year and the CPA Officer of the Month, and
he has earned awards and commendations for perfect attendance,
firearms proficiency, and his 15-year record of safe driving; and
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Allen's dedication, professionalism, and
commitment to excellence have greatly benefited the members of his
community, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career
well-spent as he embarks upon the next exciting chapter of his life;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Lieutenant Larry Allen on the
occasion of his retirement from the Mesquite Police Department and
extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and
happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Lieutenant Allen as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
