| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Friends and family are mourning the loss of Daisy |

| 6 | 6 | | DeLeon Hannah Procter of Houston, who passed away on January 14, |

| 7 | 7 | | 2009; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The eldest child of Reba and Mack Hannah, the former |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Daisy Hannah earned her bachelor's degree from West Virginia State |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | University; she continued her schooling at Texas Southern |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | University, where she graduated with a master's degree in |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | education, and she gave 34 years of faithful service to the Houston |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Independent School District before her retirement in 1984; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Procter was active in a number of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | organizations, serving as a member of Jack and Jill of America and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the Houston Public Library board; in addition, she belonged to the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority for more than a half-century and took |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | great pride in her 60-year affiliation with The Coterie, a local |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | social club; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Daisy Hannah Procter touched the lives of many |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | people throughout the decades, and she will be remembered fondly by |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | all those who were privileged to share in her love and friendship; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Daisy DeLeon Hannah |
