55 WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with humor, warmth, and a
66 wealth of friends remain to comfort the loved ones of Santiago
77 T. Gallego, who passed away on October 13, 2007, at the age of 77;

99 WHEREAS, Born and raised in Alpine, Jimmy Gallego was born on
1010 August 27, 1930, to Guadalupe and Celso Gallego, Sr.; he served his
1111 country in the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Army and Army
1212 Reserve; he held a number of jobs through the years, working for a
1313 time as a meat market butcher and ending his career with the Holy
1414 Angels Cemetery; and
1515 WHEREAS, A devoted family man, Mr. Gallego enjoyed a
1616 rewarding relationship with his wife, Olga, and their marriage was
1717 blessed with six treasured children, Nelda, Rowena, Janet,
1818 Caroline, Denise, and Jimmy Ray, as well as eight grandchildren and
1919 two great-grandchildren; and
2020 WHEREAS, This notable Texan was well-known and well-liked in
2121 his community; his down-to-earth manner, friendliness, and
2222 willingness to lend a helping hand to others endeared him to his
2323 fellow Alpine residents, who knew him as a person who never met a
2424 stranger and always had a joke to tell; and
2525 WHEREAS, Jimmy Gallego brightened the lives of all who were
2626 fortunate enough to know him, and he is deeply missed; now,
2727 therefore, be it
2828 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2929 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Santiago "Jimmy"
3030 T. Gallego and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his
3131 family: to his children, Janet Martinez and Nelda, Rowena,
3232 Caroline, Denise, and Jimmy Ray Gallego; to his eight grandchildren
3333 and two great-grandchildren; to his sisters, Isabel Valenzuela,
3434 Victoria Rubio, Consuelo Leyva, and Jesusita Ramkowsky; to his
3535 brothers, Lorenzo Gallego, Celso Gallego, Jr., and Raymond Gallego;
3636 and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
3737 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3838 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3939 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Santiago
4040 "Jimmy" T. Gallego.
