| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is pleased to |

| 6 | 6 | | welcome the members of Leadership Waxahachie to the State Capitol |

| 7 | 7 | | on March 3, 2009; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Leadership Waxahachie, a program initiated by the |

| 9 | 9 | | city's chamber of commerce in 1991, enables participants to learn |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | more about the industry, history, and culture of Waxahachie, as |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | well as their roles as city leaders; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, The group is afforded the opportunity to work with |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | numerous representatives of city, school district, and civic |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | organizations, assisting them in reaching goals and setting targets |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | for improvement; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The 2008-2009 members of Leadership Waxahachie |

| 17 | 17 | | include Chairman Neal White, Paula Baucum, Michelle Finch, Jay Fox, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Greg Griffin, Paul Hernandez, Stephen Murphree, Rhodie Rawls, Kathy |

| 19 | 19 | | Smith, Patricia Westergaard, Anita Williamson, and Patrick Wilson; |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the group is joined by past participant Teresa McNiel, Waxahachie |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Chamber of Commerce president Debra Wakeland, and Jim Chapman, past |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | chamber board chair; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, The Leadership Waxahachie program encourages and |

| 24 | 24 | | empowers citizens to strive for success and to be actively involved |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | in their community, and all those participating in and sponsoring |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | this commendable endeavor are most deserving of special legislative |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | praise; now, therefore, be it |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby commend Leadership Waxahachie for its |

| 30 | 30 | | significant contributions to the betterment of Texas; and, be it |
