No. 614 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A dedicated public servant who has devoted two decades to serving the residents of Walker County, James "Buddy" Reynolds stepped down from his position as Precinct 3 commissioner on December 31, 2008, and his retirement offers an opportunity to pay tribute to the many accomplishments of this distinguished Texan; and WHEREAS, Buddy Reynolds began his tenure in government in 1989, and during his five terms as commissioner he addressed the needs of Walker County through key infrastructural projects; developing a long-term plan, he worked with his fellow officials to pave as many roads as possible, and, in addition to achieving this worthwhile goal, they revised the county map and began a bridge-building program; and WHEREAS, Mr. Reynolds brought to his position a wealth of knowledge gained from years of construction experience; a native of Midway, he attended Sam Houston State University, working as a carpenter to pay for his education, and he went on to establish his own construction company; and WHEREAS, Living by the motto, "You're here only a short time, so leave things better than you found them," Mr. Reynolds has helped to build churches across the country and is currently helping to plan a new community center for the First Missionary Baptist Church; a valued congregant of University Heights Baptist Church, he plans to travel to Alaska to build cabins for a children's camp in 2009; and WHEREAS, In all of his pursuits, Mr. Reynolds is sustained by the love and support of his wife of 23 years, Sharon, and his children, James, Murphy, and Annie; as he leaves the county commissioner's office, Buddy Reynolds may look forward to spending more time with his loved ones while taking justifiable pride in the legacy of achievement he leaves behind; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby commend James "Buddy" Reynolds for his service as Walker County commissioner and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in all of his endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Reynolds as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
