5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A dedicated public servant who has devoted two |
---|
6 | 6 | | decades to serving the residents of Walker County, James "Buddy" |
---|
7 | 7 | | Reynolds stepped down from his position as Precinct 3 commissioner |
---|
8 | 8 | | on December 31, 2008, and his retirement offers an opportunity to |
---|
9 | 9 | | pay tribute to the many accomplishments of this distinguished |
---|
10 | 10 | | Texan; and |
---|
11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Buddy Reynolds began his tenure in government in |
---|
12 | 12 | | 1989, and during his five terms as commissioner he addressed the |
---|
13 | 13 | | needs of Walker County through key infrastructural projects; |
---|
14 | 14 | | developing a long-term plan, he worked with his fellow officials to |
---|
15 | 15 | | pave as many roads as possible, and, in addition to achieving this |
---|
16 | 16 | | worthwhile goal, they revised the county map and began a |
---|
17 | 17 | | bridge-building program; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Reynolds brought to his position a wealth of |
---|
19 | 19 | | knowledge gained from years of construction experience; a native of |
---|
20 | 20 | | Midway, he attended Sam Houston State University, working as a |
---|
21 | 21 | | carpenter to pay for his education, and he went on to establish his |
---|
22 | 22 | | own construction company; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Living by the motto, "You're here only a short time, |
---|
24 | 24 | | so leave things better than you found them," Mr. Reynolds has helped |
---|
25 | 25 | | to build churches across the country and is currently helping to |
---|
26 | 26 | | plan a new community center for the First Missionary Baptist |
---|
27 | 27 | | Church; a valued congregant of University Heights Baptist Church, |
---|
28 | 28 | | he plans to travel to Alaska to build cabins for a children's camp |
---|
29 | 29 | | in 2009; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, In all of his pursuits, Mr. Reynolds is sustained by |
---|
31 | 31 | | the love and support of his wife of 23 years, Sharon, and his |
---|
32 | 32 | | children, James, Murphy, and Annie; as he leaves the county |
---|
33 | 33 | | commissioner's office, Buddy Reynolds may look forward to spending |
---|
34 | 34 | | more time with his loved ones while taking justifiable pride in the |
---|
35 | 35 | | legacy of achievement he leaves behind; now, therefore, be it |
---|
36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
---|
37 | 37 | | Legislature hereby commend James "Buddy" Reynolds for his service |
---|
38 | 38 | | as Walker County commissioner and extend to him sincere best wishes |
---|
39 | 39 | | for continued success in all of his endeavors; and, be it further |
---|
40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

41 | 41 | | prepared for Mr. Reynolds as an expression of high regard by the |
