| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Members of Lake Highlands Military Moms are |

| 6 | 6 | | providing vital support for area residents serving in the United |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | States armed forces and their families; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, This worthwhile organization was established in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 2006 by Lake Highlands High School teacher Rhonda Russell, proud |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | mother of Staff Sergeant Lee Russell, in an effort to pay tribute to |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Lake Highlands graduates serving this country and to offer |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | encouragement for their relatives; today, 90 families benefit from |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the services of Lake Highlands Military Moms; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, In addition to gathering once a month for a dinner, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | members send care packages to all Lake Highlands military serving |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | overseas and honor these brave individuals in the local Fourth of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | July Parade; the group has also produced and distributed 500 Lake |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Highlands Heroes posters to area classrooms, businesses, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | libraries, and churches; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Under the direction of Ms. Russell, Lake Highlands |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Military Moms collaborated with the town's Exchange Club and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Congressman Jeb Hensarling to honor returning troops at a special |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | breakfast, where the troops are presented with a gift certificate |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | and letter of appreciation; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Demonstrating to our men and women in uniform the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | gratitude felt by all Americans for their service and sacrifice is a |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | most worthwhile endeavor that truly merits special recognition; |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby commend Lake Highlands Military Moms for |

| 31 | 31 | | supporting North Texas servicemen and women and extend to the |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | group's members sincere best wishes for continued success with |
