| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | by a great and enduring love, Dewey and Daphne Baucum of Midland |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on January 22, 2009; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Dewey Baucum and the former Daphne Newman were |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | united in matrimony at Grove Hill Methodist Church near Leonard on |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | that special day in 1959; through the years, they have nurtured a |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer with the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | addition of three children, Beth, Denise, and David, five |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Baucum worked for Midland Independent School |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | District as an agriculture teacher until his retirement; Mrs. |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Baucum is a homemaker; the couple are members of St. Paul United |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Methodist Church in Midland; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | half-century, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | has enabled them to meet life's challenges with grace and optimism; |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Dewey and Daphne Baucum on the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | occasion of their golden wedding anniversary and extend to them |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
