 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Junior League of Midland is marking its 60th
 year of providing exemplary educational and charitable services to
 residents of the Permian Basin; and
 WHEREAS, Established in 1949 by 28 charter members, the
 Junior League of Midland is an organization of women committed to
 improving their community through the effective action and
 leadership of trained volunteers; members affirm the group's motto
 of "Hand in Hand, We Build a Better Midland" by contributing to the
 health, welfare, and cultural environment of their community; and
 WHEREAS, Through the years, the Junior League has established
 such important initiatives as a free dental clinic and an emergency
 shelter for abused and neglected children; it currently sponsors
 programs that teach children the importance of good nutrition,
 emphasize self-esteem in adolescent girls, provide families with
 information about parenting skills, finances, and health, offer
 scholarship information to high school students, and prepare women
 for the workplace; and
 WHEREAS, For the past six decades, countless area residents
 have benefited from the Junior League's generous contributions to a
 wide array of programs and services that enrich the community; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby honor the Junior League of Midland on the
 occasion of its 60th anniversary and extend to all those associated
 with this fine organization best wishes for continued success with
 their important work; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the Junior League as an expression of high regard by
 the Texas House of Representatives.
