| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Junior League of Midland is marking its 60th |

| 6 | 6 | | year of providing exemplary educational and charitable services to |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | residents of the Permian Basin; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1949 by 28 charter members, the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Junior League of Midland is an organization of women committed to |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | improving their community through the effective action and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | leadership of trained volunteers; members affirm the group's motto |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | of "Hand in Hand, We Build a Better Midland" by contributing to the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | health, welfare, and cultural environment of their community; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Through the years, the Junior League has established |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | such important initiatives as a free dental clinic and an emergency |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | shelter for abused and neglected children; it currently sponsors |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | programs that teach children the importance of good nutrition, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | emphasize self-esteem in adolescent girls, provide families with |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | information about parenting skills, finances, and health, offer |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | scholarship information to high school students, and prepare women |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | for the workplace; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, For the past six decades, countless area residents |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | have benefited from the Junior League's generous contributions to a |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | wide array of programs and services that enrich the community; now, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | therefore, be it |

| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby honor the Junior League of Midland on the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | occasion of its 60th anniversary and extend to all those associated |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | with this fine organization best wishes for continued success with |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | their important work; and, be it further |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

| 32 | 32 | | prepared for the Junior League as an expression of high regard by |
