55 WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of love
66 and shared experiences, and Joe and Ann Pendergrass of Greenville
77 celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on December 19,
88 2008; and
99 WHEREAS, Joe Pendergrass and the former Ann Giles were
1010 married in Cockrell Hill in 1958; they have since been blessed with
1111 a treasured family that includes three sons and daughters-in-law,
1212 Steve and Barbie, Gary and Krista, and Benny and Lynn, as well as
1313 seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and
1414 WHEREAS, Early in their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Pendergrass
1515 lived in Dallas; after 10 years there, they moved to Longview, where
1616 they would spend nearly four decades; Mrs. Pendergrass is retired
1717 from her position as school secretary for Pine Tree Middle School in
1818 Longview, and Mr. Pendergrass is a semi-retired draftsman;
1919 residents of Greenville since 2007, the couple are valued
2020 congregants of the Johnson Street Church of Christ; and
2121 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Pendergrass have enjoyed five decades
2222 of abiding love and affection for one another, and they are among an
2323 exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting
2424 commitment; now, therefore, be it
2525 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2626 Legislature hereby congratulate Joe and Ann Pendergrass on their
2727 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
2828 continued happiness; and, be it further
2929 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3030 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Pendergrass as an expression of high
3131 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
