5	5	WHEREAS, Citizens of Travis County lost an admired community
6	6	activist with the death of Green Party co-chair William Judson
7	7	Holloway III on January 8, 2009, at the age of 44; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Born in Oklahoma City on July 31, 1964, Bill
9	9	Holloway was the only son of Judge William Judson Holloway, Jr., and
10	10	Helen Hoehn Holloway; he developed a love of the outdoors during
11	11	family vacations in the Rocky Mountains and as a camper and
12	12	counselor at Cheley Colorado Camps, and he earned his Eagle Scout
13	13	badge in 1980; a gifted student as well, he graduated cum laude from
14	14	Casady School and went on to attend Bucknell University, where he
15	15	was awarded the W. Norwood Lowry Prize for his achievements in
16	16	physics; he subsequently earned a master of science degree in
17	17	nonlinear physics from The University of Texas at Austin and
18	18	pursued studies in meteorology at the University of Oklahoma; and
19	19	WHEREAS, Mr. Holloway began his career at National
20	20	Instruments and later founded his own Internet consulting firm, but
21	21	he is perhaps best remembered for his generous volunteer efforts in
22	22	behalf of numerous organizations; he served as Texas director of
23	23	the Northern Flyer Alliance, which is dedicated to the
24	24	reintroduction of passenger rail, and he was involved in the Green
25	25	Party at the local, state, and national levels, serving as co-chair
26	26	of the Travis County group; moreover, he was active in the ACLU of
27	27	Texas Central Texas Chapter, and he served as a counselor for a rape
28	28	crisis hotline; and
29	29	WHEREAS, Known for his heartfelt dedication to the causes he
30	30	believed in, Bill Holloway strived to make a positive difference in
31	31	the world around him, and his myriad contributions will continue to
32	32	resonate for years to come; now, therefore, be it
33	33	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
34	34	Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of William Judson
35	35	Holloway III and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his
36	36	family: to his parents, the Honorable William Judson Holloway, Jr.,
37	37	and Helen Hoehn Holloway; to his sister, Gentry Holloway and her
38	38	partner, Martha Whiteaker; to his nephews, Jack and Josh
39	39	Whiteaker-Holloway; and to his other relatives and many friends;
40	40	and, be it further
41	41	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
42	42	prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
43	43	Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bill
44	44	Holloway.
