| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Knights of Peter Claver and the members of its |

| 6 | 6 | | ladies auxiliary, Council and Court No. 72, are hosting their |

| 7 | 7 | | annual scholarship luncheon and fashion gala in Houston on March 7, |

| 8 | 8 | | 2009; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, This highly anticipated event provides an |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | opportunity each year to recognize the contributions of this |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | notable group, which has long assisted the economically |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | disadvantaged, the sick, and the disabled, while succeeding in its |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | goals to encourage and support higher education and to train and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | develop civic leaders; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Attendees participating in the 2009 event are also |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | honoring deserving "Pioneers in the Community," men and women who |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | embody the ideals of the organization and who serve as role models |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | for youths and leaders of their communities; this year's honorees |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | include John Andress, Dr. Ann C. Smith Barnes, Joseph Cormier, |

| 20 | 20 | | Anthony Earnest Boggess Glover, Stephanie Trouiller Johnson, Harry |

| 21 | 21 | | Jolivette, the Honorable Jolanda Jones, Barbara Mouton Murray, Alma |

| 22 | 22 | | Omowaleuthbli, Mary Ida Reed, Chaire D. Shynett, and Jearldine |

| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, The Knights of Peter Claver and the members of its |
