5	5	WHEREAS, Our esteemed colleague, the Honorable Armando
6	6	Walle, is celebrating his 31st birthday on March 7, 2009, and this
7	7	occasion provides a welcome opportunity to recognize one of our
8	8	own; and
9	9	WHEREAS, A native of the Lone Star State, Armando Walle was
10	10	born in northeast Houston and raised by a single mother; the oldest
11	11	of five children, he graduated with honors from MacArthur High
12	12	School and became the first in his family to pursue a college
13	13	education; and
14	14	WHEREAS, This admirable young man attended the University of
15	15	Houston, and while earning his bachelor's degree in political
16	16	science, he mentored at-risk high school students through Students
17	17	Aspiring to a Better Education; he also worked with the Center for
18	18	Mexican American Studies, where, as the assistant to the associate
19	19	director, he helped the school recruit and retain qualified
20	20	Hispanic students; and
21	21	WHEREAS, Representative Walle began his career in public
22	22	service as a participant in Senator Rodney Ellis's Texas
23	23	Legislative Internship Program in the office of Houston City
24	24	Council member Carol Mims Galloway; he went on to serve on the staff
25	25	of Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee before joining the office of
26	26	Congressman Gene Green; and
27	27	WHEREAS, During his notable tenure with Representative
28	28	Green, Mr. Walle led a number of community initiatives, including
29	29	an immunization day, instructional workshops on paying for college,
30	30	and forums addressing senior citizen issues; in addition, he gained
31	31	a wealth of knowledge and experience in working with the Port of
32	32	Houston Authority, Federal Emergency Management Agency, U.S. Small
33	33	Business Administration, and Harris County Flood Control District;
34	34	and
35	35	WHEREAS, Armando Walle took office in January 2009,
36	36	representing the constituents of House District 140, and he has
37	37	recently been appointed to the Human Services, Rules and
38	38	Regulations, and Urban Affairs Committees; he has further served
39	39	his community as a member of the Aldine-Greenspoint YMCA board of
40	40	directors, as president of the Ambassadors International Ballet
41	41	Folklorico, and as chair of the Harris County Tejano Democrats; and
42	42	WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, he has been blessed with the
43	43	loving support of his wife, Debbie, a fellow Aldine native; active
44	44	members of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Houston, the
45	45	couple are celebrating their second wedding anniversary on March 3,
46	46	2009; and
47	47	WHEREAS, Committed to improving the lives of his fellow
48	48	Texans, Representative Walle embodies the highest standards of
49	49	public service, and he has justly garnered the respect and
50	50	admiration of his neighbors, friends, and colleagues; now,
51	51	therefore, be it
52	52	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
53	53	Legislature hereby pay tribute to the Honorable Armando Walle on
54	54	the occasion of his 31st birthday and extend to him sincere best
55	55	wishes for continued success in all of his endeavors; and, be it
56	56	further
57	57	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
58	58	prepared for Representative Walle as an expression of high regard
59	59	by the Texas House of Representatives.
