| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Texas State Trooper Todd Dylan Holmes of Gilmer was |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | killed in the line of duty on March 14, 2007, at the age of 29, and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | his untimely death was a tragic loss to his family, to his fellow |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | peace officers, and to the residents of his community; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Todd Holmes was born on September 29, 1977, in |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Plainview; he served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy from |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 1996 until 2000; following his discharge, he worked as a jailer with |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Department before his acceptance |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | into the Department of Public Safety training academy in 2005; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Married to Stephanie Dawn Pirtle since October 21, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | 2000, Trooper Holmes was committed to his family and to his faith; |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | he enjoyed spending time with his children and volunteering at |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Gilmer Church of Christ, where he was a valued member; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, This courageous Texan exemplified the highest |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | standards of his profession, and he will long be remembered for his |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | profound dedication to public service and his tireless efforts in |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | behalf of his fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Texas State Trooper |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Todd Dylan Holmes and extend sincere sympathy to his many loved |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | ones; and, be it further |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

| 27 | 27 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of State |
