44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Texas State Trooper Todd Dylan Holmes of Gilmer was
66 killed in the line of duty on March 14, 2007, at the age of 29, and
77 his untimely death was a tragic loss to his family, to his fellow
88 peace officers, and to the residents of his community; and
99 WHEREAS, Todd Holmes was born on September 29, 1977, in
1010 Plainview; he served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy from
1111 1996 until 2000; following his discharge, he worked as a jailer with
1212 the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Department before his acceptance
1313 into the Department of Public Safety training academy in 2005; and
1414 WHEREAS, Married to Stephanie Dawn Pirtle since October 21,
1515 2000, Trooper Holmes was committed to his family and to his faith;
1616 he enjoyed spending time with his children and volunteering at
1717 Gilmer Church of Christ, where he was a valued member; and
1818 WHEREAS, This courageous Texan exemplified the highest
1919 standards of his profession, and he will long be remembered for his
2020 profound dedication to public service and his tireless efforts in
2121 behalf of his fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it
2222 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2323 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Texas State Trooper
2424 Todd Dylan Holmes and extend sincere sympathy to his many loved
2525 ones; and, be it further
2626 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2727 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
2828 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of State
2929 Trooper Todd Holmes.
