 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The T. Boone Pickens Mentoring Hall of Fame in
 Irving is opening its doors in March 2009; and
 WHEREAS, Highlighting the positive difference mentoring has
 helped to make in many lives, the museum and resource center is a
 project of Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Texas, which matches
 young people with mentors in 25 area counties; in 2006 alone, this
 record-setting chapter provided mentors to more than 6,000
 children; and
 WHEREAS, The generous support of the T. Boone Pickens
 Foundation has contributed greatly to the work and success of the
 chapter; in addition to a $2 million grant that helped Big Brothers
 Big Sisters of North Texas boost its mentorships, the foundation
 also donated $1.275 million that will be used to remodel existing
 facilities and create the new Mentoring Hall of Fame and resource
 center; and
 WHEREAS, Mentors offer guidance and sound advice that help to
 set our youth on a path to a bright future, and the T. Boone Pickens
 Mentoring Hall of Fame honors the outstanding Texans who have
 selflessly shared their time, talents, and wisdom with others in
 order to see them grow; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby commemorate the opening of the T. Boone Pickens
 Mentoring Hall of Fame and extend to all those associated with this
 important endeavor sincere best wishes for continued success.
