| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Edward Cash retired on January 2, 2009, as director |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | of local affairs in the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs at the |

| 7 | 7 | | Department of Homeland Security; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A Massachusetts native, Mr. Cash earned his |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | bachelor's degree from Salem State College; he served former |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Massachusetts governor Paul Cellucci in several positions before |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | joining the federal government to work with the Department of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Energy and with the advance team for President George W. Bush; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Cash began his tenure with the Department of |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Homeland Security at its inception; he was senior advance |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | representative for Homeland Security Secretaries Tom Ridge and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Michael Chertoff and later established and ran the DHS Office of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Advance; he became director of local affairs in October 2005 and, in |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | that capacity, worked extensively with state and local governments |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and civil service agencies; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Edward Cash has performed his |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | duties with skill and dedication, and he may indeed reflect with |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | pride on his many achievements as he embarks on an exciting new |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | chapter in his life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Edward Cash on his retirement from |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs at the Department of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Homeland Security and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | continued success and happiness; and, be it further |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
