44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Edward Cash retired on January 2, 2009, as director
66 of local affairs in the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs at the
77 Department of Homeland Security; and
88 WHEREAS, A Massachusetts native, Mr. Cash earned his
99 bachelor's degree from Salem State College; he served former
1010 Massachusetts governor Paul Cellucci in several positions before
1111 joining the federal government to work with the Department of
1212 Energy and with the advance team for President George W. Bush; and
1313 WHEREAS, Mr. Cash began his tenure with the Department of
1414 Homeland Security at its inception; he was senior advance
1515 representative for Homeland Security Secretaries Tom Ridge and
1616 Michael Chertoff and later established and ran the DHS Office of
1717 Advance; he became director of local affairs in October 2005 and, in
1818 that capacity, worked extensively with state and local governments
1919 and civil service agencies; and
2020 WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Edward Cash has performed his
2121 duties with skill and dedication, and he may indeed reflect with
2222 pride on his many achievements as he embarks on an exciting new
2323 chapter in his life; now, therefore, be it
2424 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2525 Legislature hereby congratulate Edward Cash on his retirement from
2626 the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs at the Department of
2727 Homeland Security and extend to him sincere best wishes for
2828 continued success and happiness; and, be it further
2929 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3030 prepared for Mr. Cash as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3131 House of Representatives.
