| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Hank Rush has been named president and CEO of the |

| 6 | 6 | | Star of Hope Mission in Houston; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Founded in 1907, Star of Hope provides food and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | shelter to nearly 1,000 homeless men, women, and children each day; |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | the mission also offers support and solace through programs in |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | spiritual growth, employment assistance, job training, recovery |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | from substance abuse, and others; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Hank Rush is a graduate of executive management |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | programs at Harvard University and Pennsylvania State University; |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | he has been a successful businessman in Houston for 35 years, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | holding management positions with Texas Eastern Corporation, BMC |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Software, and Stewart Title Company; he is also a member of the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | boards of AmREIT and Bradmark Technologies; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, For three decades, this caring gentleman has given |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | back to his community through his service with the Children's Fund, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the Coalition for the Homeless of Houston/Harris County, and the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | IBM Business Partnership for Persons with Disabilities; he is also |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | an active member of Second Baptist Church and sits on the board of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the Houston Symphony; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Hank Rush has long proven himself to be a dynamic and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | compassionate community leader, and as he takes charge of Star of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Hope Mission, his long experience, steady judgment, and generous |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | spirit will contribute greatly to the important work of this vital |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Houston institution; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Hank Rush on his appointment as |

| 31 | 31 | | president and CEO of the Star of Hope Mission and extend to him |
