| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of love |

| 6 | 6 | | and shared experiences, and Norris and Martha Barnard of Houston |

| 7 | 7 | | celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on May 31, 2008; |

| 8 | 8 | | and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Norris Barnard and the former Martha Faires met on a |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | blind date while attending East Texas State University and were |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | joined in matrimony in 1958 at a ceremony held at the First Baptist |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Church in Gilmer; through the years, they have been blessed with a |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | treasured family that includes two daughters, Cindy Guerrero and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Ginger Hollien, a son-in-law, Gary Hollien, and a granddaughter, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Caroline; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, Mr. Barnard is |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | retired after 26 years with the Kroger Company and a notable tenure |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | with American General Life Insurance Company and Mrs. Barnard is a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | retired English and speech teacher; in addition to meeting their |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | work and family responsibilities, they have been active in their |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | neighborhood association and are valued members of White Oak |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Baptist Church; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, This devoted couple have enjoyed half a century of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | abiding love and affection for one another, and they are among an |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | commitment; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby honor Norris and Martha Barnard on their 50th |

| 29 | 29 | | wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
