| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Mary |

| 6 | 6 | | Rosalie Freeman Birdsong of Plainview, who passed away on February |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 2, 2009, at the age of 85; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of John W. and Chloe Strout Flipping, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | the former Rosalie Flipping was born on April 19, 1923, in Quanah; |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | she grew up in Hart and later graduated from Springlake-Earth High |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | School; in 1943, she was joined in marriage to E. C. Eldridge |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Freeman; the couple shared nearly four decades together and were |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | blessed with a son, Mike; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, After her husband's death in 1981, Mrs. Freeman |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | relocated to Plainview; fortunate enough to find love a second |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | time, she married Tony Birdsong in 1991 and enjoyed more than a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | decade with him until his passing in 2006; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Freeman Birdsong held a career with H&R Block |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | before her retirement; active in her community, she was a member of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the Garland Street Church of Christ and the Home Demonstration |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Club; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan led a caring and purposeful |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | life, and she will forever hold a treasured place in the hearts of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | all those who shared in her love and friendship; now, therefore, be |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Mary Rosalie |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Freeman Birdsong and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | family: to her son, Judge Mike Freeman, and his wife, Karon; to her |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and to her other |

| 31 | 31 | | relatives and friends; and, be it further |

| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
