| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Crowley Ninth Grade Campus was named a 2008 Just |

| 6 | 6 | | for the Kids--Higher Performing School by the National Center for |

| 7 | 7 | | Educational Achievement; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1995 by the NCEA, Just for the Kids is |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | a program designed to find and fulfill every school's potential for |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | reaching academic excellence and to ensure that all students are |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | prepared for college and careers; JFTK identifies Higher Performing |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Schools that meet stringent criteria over multiple years and across |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | all subjects; the best practices of these institutions are measured |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | to determine a framework for improvement in other schools, and the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Higher Performing Schools serve as models for raising scholastic |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | standards nationwide; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Skillfully led by principal Daphne Kahn-Wiley, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Crowley Ninth is one of two campuses that serve more than 1,000 |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | ninth graders in the Crowley Independent School District; this |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | noteworthy school seeks to provide its students with a quality |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | education, to encourage the involvement of parents and members of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the community, and to use its resources effectively to help |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | students meet the challenges of the future; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Through commitment, hard work, and perseverance, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | the teachers and students of Crowley Ninth Grade Campus have built |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | an impressive record of academic achievement, and their outstanding |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | efforts were duly recognized with this Higher Performing School |

| 28 | 28 | | designation; now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby honor Crowley Ninth Grade Campus on its |

| 31 | 31 | | selection as a 2008 Just for the Kids--Higher Performing School and |

| 32 | 32 | | extend to its teachers, students, and staff sincere best wishes for |
