| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, March is National Women's History Month, and the |

| 6 | 6 | | Honey Brown Hope Foundation is celebrating the outstanding |

| 7 | 7 | | achievements of women with its 2009 Women Improving the Nation |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Award Luncheon on March 14, 2009; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Honey Brown Hope is a nonprofit writing and literacy |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | foundation working to empower voters, encourage multicultural |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | writing, literature, and drama, and foster character building and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | environmental awareness; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Under the leadership of founder and executive |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | director, Tammie Lang Campbell, the foundation has worked for |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | nearly two decades to provide educational opportunities to young |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | people and adults; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The 2009 WIN Award will be presented to Kathy Sapp, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | executive producer of the nationally syndicated Judge Alex |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | television show, in recognition of her successful media career and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | contributions to the community; the luncheon will also feature |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | guest speaker Kathy Williams, vice president and news director of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | KRIV Fox 26 TV in Houston, and Honorary Chair, Judge Debra |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Champagne; a portion of the proceeds will benefit the foundation's |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | self-worth program for young girls; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, This event represents a fitting tribute to the hard |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | work, perseverance, and commitment to excellence of notable women, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | and the event itself is indeed worthy of recognition; now, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | therefore, be it |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 2009 WIN Award Luncheon of the |
