5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A delegation from Ed White Memorial High School in |

6 | 6 | | League City is visiting the State Capitol on March 12, 2009, and |

7 | 7 | | this occasion provides a fitting opportunity to honor the school |
---|
8 | 8 | | and its parent organization, Bay Area Charter School, Inc.; and |
---|
9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Bay Area Charter School is a nonprofit, |
---|
10 | 10 | | open-enrollment charter school community that serves 19 |
---|
11 | 11 | | independent school districts in the Galveston Bay area; its mission |
---|
12 | 12 | | is to foster the excitement of learning through an interactive |
---|
13 | 13 | | educational environment that values the gifts and talents of every |
---|
14 | 14 | | child and to encourage cooperation among students, parents, and the |
---|
15 | 15 | | community, and its schools are guided by the principle that |
---|
16 | 16 | | students learn best in project-based environments that focus on |
---|
17 | 17 | | real world applications; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Named in honor of the NASA astronaut, Ed White |
---|
19 | 19 | | Memorial High School opened its doors in 1998; its classes are |
---|
20 | 20 | | limited in size to 20 students, and the school is designed to |
---|
21 | 21 | | address the individual needs of the students through a personalized |
---|
22 | 22 | | curriculum; Ed White Memorial also features advanced placement and |
---|
23 | 23 | | career and technology courses, online learning opportunities, and |
---|
24 | 24 | | dual-enrollment courses offered in conjunction with College of the |
---|
25 | 25 | | Mainland; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Committed to its innovative, high quality system of |
---|
27 | 27 | | education, Bay Area Charter School is helping its students succeed |
---|
28 | 28 | | academically and realize their full potential, and in so doing, it |
---|
29 | 29 | | is building a solid foundation for the future achievement of many |
---|
30 | 30 | | young Texans; now, therefore, be it |

31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby honor Bay Area Charter School, Inc., and extend |

33 | 33 | | a warm welcome to the representatives from Ed White Memorial High |
