55 WHEREAS, Members of the Mexican American Democrats of Texas
66 have long worked to advance causes important to the state's large
77 Hispanic population, and their groundbreaking efforts have helped
88 to ensure that the voices of all our citizens are heard and
99 respected; and
1010 WHEREAS, Under the capable leadership of its presidents
1111 through the years, the Mexican American Democrats of Texas has
1212 successfully increased the representation of Hispanic Texans at the
1313 local, state, and national levels and will undoubtedly continue
1414 this proud tradition throughout the years to come; and
1515 WHEREAS, Following in the footsteps of such groups as La Raza
1616 Unida and the Southwest Voter Registration Project, members of the
1717 Mexican American Democrats of Texas have employed grassroots
1818 methods to reach the largest audience possible; by actively
1919 soliciting their constituents' opinions and faithfully
2020 representing their concerns, they have demonstrated the truest
2121 ideals of the democratic process; now, therefore, be it
2222 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2323 Legislature hereby honor the 2010 president and all former
2424 presidents of the Mexican American Democrats of Texas and extend to
2525 them warmest best wishes for continued success and happiness in all
2626 their endeavors; and, be it further
2727 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2828 prepared for the Mexican American Democrats of Texas as an
2929 expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
