44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, The Tomball High School Junior Reserve Officers'
66 Training Corps helps prepare young Texans for the responsibilities
77 of adulthood while teaching them the fundamental principles that
88 underlie good citizenship; and
99 WHEREAS, Commissioned in 1994, Tomball Junior ROTC began
1010 under the leadership of Master Chief Cab Boston, Jr., and Commander
1111 Gaston Buford, who continue to provide able guidance to the unit; in
1212 addition, Chief Erick Geisler has been helping to direct the
1313 school's cadets since 2001; and
1414 WHEREAS, Tomball Junior ROTC has been considered an Honor
1515 Unit for the past two years, and its drill team recently finished
1616 10th in state competition; moreover, the 165 cadets at Tomball
1717 accumulated a total of 2,200 community service hours in 2008; and
1818 WHEREAS, By participating in Tomball Junior ROTC, members
1919 gain a better understanding of ethical values and develop a range of
2020 important qualities, including leadership ability, physical
2121 fitness, and cooperative teamwork skills; in so doing, they are
2222 laying the foundation for a lifelong commitment to excellence that
2323 will be of lasting benefit to their communities; now, therefore, be
2424 it
2525 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2626 Legislature hereby recognize the Tomball High School Junior Reserve
2727 Officers' Training Corps and extend to its officers and cadets
2828 sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
2929 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3030 prepared for the program as an expression of high regard by the
3131 Texas House of Representatives.
